How to write guitar tab

Each of the six lines is a guitar string. The bottom line is the low E string and the top line is the high E string, the reverse of how the strings look when you glance down at the guitar. Write fret numbers on the lines: 0 is an open string, 3 means the third fret.

• Numbers stacked vertically are played together as a chord.
• Common symbols: h hammer-on, p pull-off, / slide up, \ slide down, b bend, x muted string.
• Choose Staff + guitar tab to write rhythm in standard notation above the tab.
